Do you have a favourite bible verse?
One of my favourite bible vs has always be John 14:6 from New King James. I have only ever read the New King James since I got saved in 1999. There are many other vs but having revelation understanding of John 14:6 for me describes who, what, where, why and the position Jesus is in, in the God head by His own words and He does make it clear that if anyone is wanting to go to heaven, He is the only way. There are many faiths out there and none of them can stand up to what Jesus declares.
When did you join the YCBC family?
I believe Rach and I joined in early 2021 once covid restrictions had been lifted but had been watching online through the covid lock down periods to have something locally based to watch or be involved in as the previous church wasn’t’ or couldn’t offer anything. Pastor Nicks’ preaching was the key that drew us to come to the YCBC in person, great teaching, direct from the word, with revelation that could be applied to our lives individually. Very real and not flaky Christianity.
What makes you passionate about serving in your current role?
I am not usually outwardly passionate, but what is key to serving in the role is the people that I am serving with. One of the main things that was a confirmation of being involved at YCBC is that people who are serving in the church community are serving out of the gifting’s that God has given them. Not just people serving or volunteering because there is a need to fill, but rather operating out of actual gifting together as community in God. I do believe that if someone is going to serve, then they need to have the gifting to be in the chosen position, to be able to be fruitful rather than just filling a spot that is vacant and needs to be filled for a purpose. I am personally looking forward to being challenged and growing through what I have been chosen/accepted into the position of elder and are hopeful that through Jesus, I can bear fruit worthy of the responsibilities/accountabilities set before me in the unknown future. I believe there is a time of stretching ahead. Being in a leadership role is out of my comfort zone as I believe myself to be a good follower of good leadership. There is an awakening and rising up within.
Is there anything else you’d like to let people know?
A position in God that He chose for me from the beginning, is that of a worshiper, through playing/music. This is one of the gifting’s’ that God has placed upon my life for His purpose. I can’t say that I am perfect musician but what God has called me to, is a place of comfort and empowerment through Holy Spirit for me personally, that I can continue give to the church community.
